Σwith every farm house, Hesiod's plow remains the same until the previous century. The Homeric Epics, folk song, dance, sports and artistic traditions, art, literature and painting, are the solid foundations of an unimaginably hierarchical and at the same time liberal life. They are the elements that determine the deepest lyricism of private and public life, the continuity of morals, language and citizenship, and drive the great changes. In recent times, from the communitarianism of K. Karavidas to the visionary spirit of Z. Delors, the traditional balances are changing. On the surface, consumption patterns, tensions, inequalities and demographic collapse dominate. On the land that was worked by hard men and patient women, the strawberry and orange slums are being erected. The rural intellectual is transformed from a free thinker into a party worker.
The scenes depicting all these events tell exactly that, a sense of discontinuity, and the anxiety lies in whether it can be covered... This is also the central idea of this work, which, to complete, required twenty-five years of study and observations on in the important issues of the agricultural countryside.
