"For years now I have been observing the simple, authentic and genuine elderly people in Imathiotika Pieria and I can only express my admiration for their simplicity, dignity, honesty, sincerity, purity of soul, willingness to offer, kindness, hospitality, solidarity and many other values that I believe come from the depths of the centuries and that refer us to antiquity and the ancient Greek culture. These people are the genuine people of the Greek countryside who, without knowing it, carry within themselves the experience and wisdom of an entire culture, our popular culture. Of a culture, which we "literate", "literate" and technocrats want to forget and are led down roads that even we do not know where they will lead us, influenced by the modern way of life and culture imposed on us by globalization, the new order and the standard of modern bliss. Of course, what the reader will read is the end of an era. Unfortunately, the baton of this era I'm afraid has no other runner to hand over. The new speed of change in society, where everything dies before becoming old, certainly enriched people in material goods, but impoverished them in mental "strength" and beauty. So by sounding the alarm, a way must be found in front of this vortex of the "modern and materialistic world" to bridge the gap between yesterday and today. This gesture is an infinitesimal effort, a small stone towards that goal..."
