who is the author?

Christos Ath. Kalaitzis is an Assistant Professor of Urology at the Democritus University of Thrace. He received his medical degree in 1987 from the Medical School of the Free University of Berlin (FU-Berlin). In 1996 he completed his specialty in Urology after 5 years of training at the University Hospitals, Rudolf Virchow and Charite Berlin. This was followed by 4 years of full-time employment as Curator B at the Augusta Victoria Hospital in Berlin.
He produced a doctoral thesis entitled "The importance of the contralateral kidney in the persistence of renal vascular hypertension - Experimental studies on sodium balance, the eicosanoid system and the importance of the renal nerves".
After completing his military service as a Urologist in the year 2000 and field service in 2001, he was appointed as Curator II at the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis. In 2003 he was appointed to the rank of Lecturer at the Democritus University of Thrace and in 2008 to the rank of Assistant Professor.
In addition to the mentioned training, he was retrained in Endourology, Extracorporeal Lithotripsy, Transurethral Techniques, Laparoscopic Techniques, as well as in Medical Ethics and Ethics. His educational work includes at the undergraduate level the training of students in Urology and at the postgraduate level the training of specialist urologists and urologists of the postgraduate program "Postgraduate Education in Endourology", which is provided by the Urology Clinic of the IFT. He has participated as an instructor in numerous educational seminars and has been invited many times as a surgeon to demonstrate surgical techniques (live operations).
He presents an important writing and research project with numerous publications in authoritative international journals and speeches at international and Greek conferences. In addition, he translated into Greek and edited R. Hohenfellner's book "Ausgewählte Op-Techniken, authored chapters in Greek and foreign urological educational books and published an educational CD for learning Transurethral Surgical Techniques.
