The dramatic and adventurous story of a village that was located in Propontida on the island of Marmara and was called Aftoni. Its inhabitants were exiled in 1915 to the parts of Bursa for three years and then they were permanently expelled from their village in 1922 during the years of the Asia Minor disaster.
They dispersed to many parts of Greece and abroad and a part of them came to Halkidiki in Pyrgadikia, where they settled permanently.
Their entire historical path described in the book was based on the accounts of people who lived through the events.

who is the author?
Nikos Valasakis was born in Pyrgadikia in Halkidiki and studied Mathematics at the University of Patras. He has been working in secondary education as a mathematics teacher since 1982 and lives permanently in Thessaloniki. From a very early age he was involved in the cultural issues of his village and was president of the cultural club "Aftoni" for many years, with several activities, such as the creation of a lending library in Pyrgadikia, the creation of the club's blood bank, and the organization of cultural events.
For four years he published a small newspaper entitled "PYRGADIKIA".
He wrote various articles from time to time in the monthly magazine "LOGOS tou Politis" of the municipality of his area.
The book "AFTHONI", from iWrite Publications, is his first writing effort.
