OCCUPATION, RESISTANCE, CIVIL,
POLITICAL INSTABILITY, JUNTA,
RE-CIVILIZATION – AT THE MERCY OF HISTORY
Dimitris is the teenager who, before the war, follows his father, the judge, in his transfers to the countryside. He is the freshman Evelpis, who receives his baptism of fire in the Battle of Crete, the student of the Polytechnic, who resists the occupying Athens and the EDES rebel, who fights the Germans on the mountain. He is the lieutenant in the Civil War and the captain, who is wounded in the Korean War. He is also the only leader of the dictatorship, who soon disagrees with the others and divides his position. He becomes the columnist of resistance articles with impact, which is measured in circulation records of the newspapers of the time. And while he celebrates the restoration of the Republic, he prepares to face his judge.
A lifetime does not fit in one moment. It probably fit in this book. And while one moment can certainly scar someone, it may not deserve to tarnish a lifetime.
