A land of unnecessary people

"Connor, are all the countries you've traveled to as weird as the last one?"
Connor looked at her fellow traveler, who was lying a little further away.
“I cannot know what will seem strange to you, Orion. Imagine that in several countries I have been asked: "Are all travelers as curious as you?"
"But what shall I expect of the places we shall visit?" insisted the boy.
Connor turned her gaze back to the star-studded sky.
"From unique laws to special customs and behaviors, from technological wonders to unprecedented worldviews, you will see that every country has something different. You will see countries that look like your own and places where, to you, people will behave irrationally. Welcoming places and inhospitable places. Societies dystopian for some people and utopian for others".
A shooting star hurried across the sky, leaving a fleeting trail among the stars.
"And, of course, you will see places as beautiful as the view we have now," concluded the girl.
The two travelers were silent for a long time, each lost in thought.
"How about the next country?" Orion finally said.
Connor smiled.
"I don't know, but I can't wait to see…"
