Brief depiction of village life 60-80 years ago. People back then were different from people today. They cultivated the land, raised animals, went to church and shared joys and sorrows with others. Some stood out from the crowd, but their living conditions prevented them from distinguishing themselves in social roles. From the plow handle and the reaper's scythe to the computer keyboard today. People will never be like that again. One - one leaves and soon there will be no witnesses. A thread connecting the then with the now would not be pointless.

Ioanna Michou -
Veligosti is a book that is not only addressed to the inhabitants and the descendants who have spread and excelled inside and outside Greece, but also to all those who are interested in learning how they lived in the villages in the 20th century. A community that survived in adverse weather, sanitary conditions, the absence of roads and cars, communication and technology. All that today is given and non-negotiable, some did not even have time to imagine it. Today the search and production of food has been replaced by the supermarket, the donkey by fast cars, practical medicine by the health center, heating and cooking with wood by oil.
The forced and violent "symbiosis" with the Germans requisitioning the houses during the years of occupation and so many others that are etched in the lives and memories of those who still visit Belgosti. The book is well written in simple and understandable language, direct and pleasant. I recommend it to be read by all Beligostians (old and young) as well as by those interested in learning about the hard-working but united family life.
