All her life, Elena battles powerful demons. The sadness that blooms inside her, the nightmares that disturb her sleep, the death of her father, and even her little brother's constant battle with himself, make her want to give up on life. She reaches the edge of the balcony, closes her eyes and imagines herself as a fallen angel. But his voice stops her. And it gives her a reason to live. Now, raised from the dead, she must face her own mind. Faced with manic depression, even she doesn't know which of her battles is stronger.
"I'm acrobating on a rope. And right below that are my thoughts and feelings. So I can do anything. To dance, to leap in the air, to reach the clouds... but under no circumstances can I fall from it. That's why everything seems like a distant memory to me. And as if I didn't experience them myself..." I tell her. She hangs on my words. "One, I have energy to do everything and the other I'm curled up in the bathtub like when I lost my father. You can't know what's happening to me because I don't know myself either."
Amazing book, very powerful. Probably the best depiction of manic depression I've seen to date.
