Athens, September 2012: A TV channel is launching its own version of bailing out Greece by airing 'The Next Leader', a new reality show that looks set to be a world first, as the winner will be funded for his election campaign.
At the same time a group of five people, a psychiatrist, a PhD candidate, a chess professor, a former salesman and an unemployed account manager present a political study as a proposal for governance to get the country out of recession.
Two parallel worlds, television democracy in a slightly surreal costume and social democracy attempting its own transcendence. Will they clash or work together? Will they meet or go their separate ways?
A journalist follows the new phenomena increasing and decreasing her distance from the heroes.
The gray landscape of public life is interspersed with new shapes that promise, if nothing else, surprises, upheavals but also laughter. Is there room and time for a new beginning?

It may be a novel, but the book poses very topical social and political issues. What is the quality of democracy we enjoy? How easily can a citizen claim the right to exercise power? Are we so far from her agenda that even the result of a reality show could provide solutions to the impasses we face? I highly recommend it!
