Η Samaro Giannakopoulou was born in Athens. He grew up in Thessaloniki where he married at a young age and had a daughter.
He worked for Tourism in Greece and Switzerland and traveled to many countries around the world.
In 1985, her first book "The other knowledge" was published, which is a personal testimony about women's problems. From 1987 to 1997, he worked at the Center for the Treatment of Addicted Persons (KETHEA), where he became aware of the philosophy of Therapeutic Communities and attended a "closed" treatment program for drug users in America as an education. In 1991, her second book, Grow or Run, was published, which refers to this experience (2nd edition 1993, 3rd edition 1999). For a number of years he was a member of the editorial board of the magazine "NEW ECOLOGY". In 2000 her third book "Life then and after..." was published, while in 2003 her fourth book "Women, Journeys through Time". In 2006, the publication of the book "Grow and Stay" followed, which closed that circle of her experience in the programs of the Therapeutic Communities, also referring to prevention issues, which Maria Angelou dealt with. He was an active member of the Citizens' Union of Thessaloniki for the Environment and Culture.
In 2010 she was elected Councilor in the 2011st Municipal Community and from 2019 to XNUMX she was the President of the "Sirios" Prevention Centers of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the committee for Juvenile Delinquency and Addictions, as well as Coordinator of the Network of Addiction Prevention and Treatment Agencies. He is an honorary member of the Board of Directors. of the Panhellenic Network of Addiction Prevention and Psychosocial Health Promotion Centers (DI.KE.PR.E.).
