In this setting, a love is born between Theano and the leader of the janissaries, Murat the Bloody. A love that will fill Murat with humanity and Theano with guilt and regret. This irrational love will trap her but at the same time will redeem her and support her to endure the sufferings of slavery. To finally end up in the heart of the Ottoman Empire, Constantinople, where she will manage to influence the destinies of many people without ever forgetting her origin and faith.

Will she be able, through Topkapi's intrigues, murders and strong passions, to fulfill her dream and return to her beloved village, Voulismene?

Author Biography

Manolis Sylligardos, originally from Voulismenie, Neapolis, Crete, was born in Agios Nikolaos, Merabello, Lasithi province. His father Nikos Sylligardos or "Red", a fighter of the National Resistance and a member of the EAM, passed away very early, when his son was ten years old. His parents, deep Democrats with faith in God but also in the value of freedom, gave him the first glimpses of patriotic consciousness.

He is a graduate of the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment of the Faculty of Geotechnical Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He served in the Forestry Service as a Forester and Director of Forests in the Prefecture of Lassithi.

He has written two historical novels: "The Cry of the Wolf" (2016) and "Refugees" (2018). He writes articles for local newspapers on scientific, environmental and social topics and has participated as a speaker in environmental awareness among students.

He is married and has two daughters.

It is a restless spirit with social, environmental and political sensibilities.

He hopes to continue writing, which is an open window, to release what he has hidden inside him for so many years.
