It is a fact that epic fantasy movies and TV series have become a global phenomenon in the current century, gaining millions of fanatical fans around the world.
In the iWrite editions, we tried to transfer to the field of the History of our country the events, the situations, but also the general atmosphere that these types of works exude. Intrigues, conspiracies, hunts for power, imperial bloodlines, murders, conspiracies, secret loves, eunuchs...
We didn't have to think long to come up with one word: Byzantium! The Byzantine Empire was the continuation of the Roman Empire. Its beginnings are placed in 330, when Emperor Constantine inaugurated Constantinople as the capital of his new state, while its final fall came in 1453, with the fall of the city.
By making a connection with today, as modern Greeks we are, on an idiosyncratic level, more of a continuation of Byzantine society, than direct descendants of the ancient Greeks, a fact that is reflected in the way our society functions throughout time.
This fact enabled 30 talented Greek writers of Fantasy to create worlds and scenarios that are in terms of content and aesthetics very close to popular literary environments of foreign and recognized authors, adding, of course, their own special touches. You can read these original short stories in the volume you are holding in your hands.
