We are in the year 674 AD. The ships of the Caliph Moab I have surrounded Constantinople and are threatening to besiege it. Emperor Constantine IV needs money to ensure the successful defense of the city, so he gives an important mission to his trusted soldier Asterios. He and his born-mong cousin travel to the now Arab-occupied Damascus to return a treasure to their emperor. Their ally in this difficult mission is the caliph's daughter, Aazin, a young girl with high knowledge and abilities. Their mission will become even more difficult when ghosts from the past get in their way. The clueless Romans will learn the true history of the Umayyad dynasty in a bloody way and will be called upon to protect Sultana Aazin from deadly enemies.

All of them, Muslims and Christians, will need to cross difficult paths to survive every trial that comes their way. Their companions are values and ideals, but also a divine help. In the end, each of them will manage to find their own treasure.

Author Biography

Danae Ibrahim lives in Athens, where she was born. She is a child of Greek and Arab origin, just like her book. He is a student at the Department of History and Archeology of the Philosophical School of Athens.

He first got involved in writing during his High School years, writing simple literary stories. Later she ventured to compose poems, while continuing her preoccupation with prose. In 2015, he began writing a six-part fantasy novel, titled "Underworld," which he publishes serially on the online platform Watt Pad.

As for the trilogy "The Treasure of Damascus", the first part of which you are holding in your hands, it is a multidimensional work, through which he expects the acquaintance of Arab culture with the Greek public.

Book review

The book fulfills a deep desire of mine to emphasize the similarities rather than the differences between our cultures. Filled with social messages, it offers high-end pleasures to readers by marrying myth, history, tradition and religion. The combination of these disparate elements creates an intoxicating amalgam of East and West, Modernism and the Ancient World invested with the heavy weight of mystery and eroticism. The composition of the densely written fable leads to climaxes that are found at many points in the work leading the reader down various paths and thoughts before they are "enlightened by the truth". Magical and intoxicating - like everything oriental - from the first page.

The story couldn't stop playing in my head. The author has managed to arouse your curiosity both for the characters and their faith and for the historical context of the time. The writing flows smoothly and there are tensions where they should be. They leave such a beautiful feeling as if you yourself are experiencing the tenderness that a loved one can give you.

As I was reading it, it reminded me of a fairy tale. It started off really well, introducing us to the characters and the culture, while there was a mystery from the very first pages. I learned a lot about Islam and I declare that I was captivated by the Middle Eastern culture as well as by the book itself. A beginning of a magical trilogy.
