Through the experiences of the author's childhood and adolescence before the war in Cyprus in 1974, the way of life in the cities and villages unfolds, mainly in Famagusta, Nicosia and the mountainous valley of Solea. Habits, customs, differences between generations, contrasts of life in the countryside and urban centers. A world that was rapidly changing in appearance, speech, love, gender relations, technology, music, art in general. A transition from typical Victorian hypocrisy to the honest and authentic.
The book depicts the pre-war political situation of Cyprus, as well as the political actions (legal and illegal) that led to the coup that brought the Turkish invasion of the island.
The author's generation may be the luckiest and at the same time the unluckiest of Cyprus throughout the centuries. It is the only generation that lived, even if only for fourteen years, independence and freedom on the Island.
