"The excessive use of social media, in combination with the convenience provided by viewing images, has a negative impact on our communication skills, but also on our psychology," argues Dr. Savvas Trichas. The internationally renowned speaker and author on the occasion of his new book "The Power of Communication" published by I Write publications explains:
"At a time when the image through social media is becoming more immediate and powerful and the text is shrinking, how is the communication between us changing and how is its dynamic evolving? The answer to that particular question could be my next book. However, I will try to answer it as soon as possible. It is a fact that the rules of communication have changed, due to the structures of digital communication. I find the process of decoding these rules extremely interesting, both for our personal and professional development. Due to my studies as well as my many years of experience in non-verbal communication, I attach great importance to the image and the messages it sends out and I do not hide that I systematically use social media to creatively support my career path. Nevertheless, there is also scientific research, which supports that the excessive use of social media, combined with the convenience provided by the projection of images, has a negative impact on our communication ability and also on our psychology. The good news is that science has to give us effective solutions to be able to limit the negative consequences and strengthen the positive ones. One of my favorite sayings is Christian Lous Lange's “Technology Is a Great Partner But a Dangerous Boss”. One of the talks I give, which has been in high demand for the past couple of years, deals precisely with the influence of social media on our communication and how we can reprogram our behaviors so that we can increase our communication proficiency.”
