A century ago, a child perched on his favorite hill, watched the sun set over the mountains of Paphos, painting the shores of Aphrodite with magical colors and listened to the rustling of the Troodos pines whispering secret messages to him across the purple valleys and blue shores of Morphou... Berengaria has stood ever since on the exact same hill, built by that same child...
Today, a century later, another child living among us, impressed by the magnificence of the hotel of the kings, outraged by its abandonment and enchanted by the same secret messages that the owner of Berengaria also heard, investigated, recorded and saved the his story.
The story of perhaps the most amazing achievement of the last century in Cyprus, is revealed within the pages of this book, taken from yellowed pages of archives and old newspapers, rare documents and hard-to-find documents, as well as reprints of old articles and analysis of dozens of letters of I. Kokkalos .
Through rare period photographs, testimonies from the original guest book and other guests of the hotel, as well as its advertisements and documents, this book completes the puzzle of a forgotten grandeur and an aspect of Cypriot history full of glamor and nostalgia and promises to moved.
