The purpose of this book is to present the sports activities in the institutional framework of the educational programs or the relevant laws that existed in the Gymnasiums of Asia Minor in the 1st century. BC, at the same time as highlighting their "pedagogical" role (of sports activities). Gymnasiums in Asia Minor in the 1st c. e.g. as educational institutions -mainly of a public nature- they seem to have had a central and multi-dimensional role in the life of the cities, while, as regards their educational programs (of the High Schools), sports activities were - during the ebbs and flows of the era - an integral and essential part.
The institutions of High School and Adolescence in the ancient Greek world were points of reference for education, training, education, ultimately (ancient Greek) culture more broadly, while it should be noted that in the context of the relationship between state and citizen also functioned with social and political terms and roles. The above justifies their multidimensional functional presence and their importance in and for cities. Therefore, Gymnasiums and Adolescence provided - basically - to the students/students (in them) the appropriate education, in order, subsequently, to constitute (the students) good members of society.
The institutional processes (rules of operation, etc.) and the educational processes (sports activities, theoretical education, moral-socio-political education and military training) as well as the relationships between those involved (officials, students/students, teachers - trainers, etc.) .) among themselves within the Gymnasiums, but also the presence and interaction of all of them with the becoming of the city, make up the grid of the Gymnasiums' operation.
