Who worshiped the twelve gods during the 9th century in the Peloponnese? Were there Illuminati in Byzantium? Why in the Middle Ages did the Cretans envision Artemis and the Maniates send their dead to Hades? What magical rituals for the protection of Athens took place at the end of the 18th century and on what occasion did the Iptanisians intend to bring back the ancient religion at the same time, reviving the Olympic Games? How is it possible that in the years of Elgin the inhabitants of Eleusis honored an ancient statue of Demeter? Where are the roots of the magical practices of the islanders, who in recent years "trapped" the winds? And why did the inhabitants of revolutionary Greece "see" their ancient ancestors as a forgotten race of giants?
Ο journalist and writer Minas Papageorgiou collected and presents nine strange stories recorded in Greece from the 9th to the 20th century. Stories testifying that customs, practices and images of the ancient world, which were supposed to have been eradicated centuries ago, continued to exist, consciously or unconsciously, in population groups across the land. These are events, situations and ideas, which in a strange way seem to deviate from the conventional flow of our History, demonstrating that various aspects of the "ancient soul" managed to survive or even regenerate over time, forming, in the end, aspects of the complex - and in many cases problematic - modern Greek identity.
