The landscape, wildlife, adventures and living conditions on my grandfather's estate where I grew up, as well as traveling, safaris, and living in different countries in Africa because of my father's work, marked my life. My grandmother's upbringing was decisive and her lessons influenced me and shaped my personality. The bicycle was the means that enabled me to make secret excursions and discover places that I would not otherwise have had the opportunity to know, to observe wild animals with complete naivety, ignoring the possible dangers. I got to know the natives up close, although the colonial mentality informally forbade such contact. I experienced moments of real freedom, without the shackles of restricting my movements, but I also experienced communication with people who helped me to assess my relationship with them without being affected, in the environment where they lived.
