In a few words…
In this book, school programs and actions are presented which were carried out during the school years 2014-2015, 2015-2016, 2016-2017 in minority and public schools of the Directorate of Primary Education of Xanthi. It is about the implementation of innovative ideas in the school practice, in the context of the relevant announcements of school activities of the Ministry of Education. First, it should be mentioned that these are programs and actions with specific structural and functional characteristics, which were intended to meet the needs and interests of students, in a different, attractive and effective way, beyond the usual ones, based on always the existing conditions and possibilities. The themes of the programs moved in the direction of the experiential understanding of concepts, principles and values mainly in the context of European education and intercultural education, with an emphasis on intersubjectivity and cooperation. Pupils from different schools, public and minority, parents, university professors, education directors, heads of offices, directors of school units, teachers of many specialties, as well as agency managers, local community actors, etc. collaborated . The contents of the programs were co-shaped by the students and the teachers, so that on the one hand they are attractive for the children themselves, while on the other hand they are effectively connected with the cognitive subjects of the planned school curriculum. Finally, it is worth mentioning that the programs in question, although they were implemented in the Primary School, it is possible with the appropriate adaptations and modifications to be implemented in the High School as well. Also, the principles of application of the programs, the methods and the contents, in combination with the rich audio-visual/digital material that exists on educational websites and blogs (all of the above are presented/listed within this book), they can be a starting point or even a basis for the creation of similar innovative programs in other educational contexts, such as, for example, special education, refugee education, etc.
