“I have intuitive dyslexia. Love from fraud, two letters away. A random mutation in the faith gene." If feelings were friends, flesh and blood, what would they be like? Tall, blonde, thin, beautiful? Would we go out, drink, argue, be teased, cry together? Love and infidelity, work relationships, hopes and disappointment. Is the pursuit of happiness so difficult? Or, the more we try, the more we lose ourselves? Happiness comes as soon as we stop looking for it. Not as our permanent roommate, but as an old friend, real, who is always there, to laugh with us on a bench, to share a cup of coffee, to congratulate us on a success. Our fears and insecurities hide it, habit repels it. But happiness doesn't go away. It hides to reappear as soon as we are ready to receive it. "My Ugly Friends" deals with all that we experience on a daily basis in a constant effort to succeed and be accepted, without realizing that, in this effort, we trample on parts of our personality. A short story that encourages us to embrace our emotions, no matter how bad they are.
