Born in Nafplion, Cleo Presvelou taught sociology and family economics as a permanent professor at the University of Louvain in Belgium and the Agricultural University of Wageningen in the Netherlands, while at the same time as an expert for international organizations (FAO, WFP, UNICEF among others), she traveled to most parts of the world. This book is both an autobiographical narrative and an assessment of a life course, of her scientific achievement and professional development.
Memories from childhood and adolescence, the years of learning, experiences from his university career and impressions from the places he visited, form the basis on which the fabric of the narrative is woven, which takes the reader from pre-war Nafplion to the capitals of the post-war period. Europe and from there to various countries of the world, until the return to post-colonial Greece. A narrative that acquires special interest, as this personal journey intersects with historical and political events, intellectual ferments and social developments that marked the twentieth century (World War II, the vision of a united Europe, May 68).
Optimism, hard work, commitment to the goal, persistence and patience, are the values she relied on throughout her life and career. These values the author would like to bequeath to the readers and especially to the younger ones.
