And then, my world turned me back to its black and white background. All the clouds of my sky, gray and heavy, Made a shadow again for me to run through. That summer sea of ours was sinking into its rosy twilight path, and my tale was over, before I reached "and they lived well...

There are some books that open a dialogue directly with your soul. Bypassing logic, time, standard expectations one might have for a reading.
"A night and a time", is such a book. It is a deposit of soul, and at the same time a very special literary work. It took me a long time to get lost in the paths of a novel written in such a 'poetic' way. Especially in this genre, it is difficult for a writer to masterfully apply so much lyricism to a prose text.
Garifallia Tepeleni manages to create a story that can transcend the narrow limits of place and time. It is enough to leave oneself to the magic of the text, to follow the thread of thoughtful searches that unfolds, through the adventures of the protagonist and the heroes who surround her, define her, degrade her and sometimes excel her. The female protagonist might as well not have a name. As you will discover by reading the book, it doesn't really matter that much after all. All importance is concentrated on human nature and essence, the factors and emotions that direct it through life, with moments of happiness and hard trials succeeding each other with a consistent periodicity.
But above all, love is outlined in this book. In all its guises, good and bad, light and dark, beneficial and destructive. For an author to be able to talk about love through his work, methodically avoiding repetitions from the existing literary heritage, deviating from everything clichéd and commonplace, is a gamble. I think the author of 'One night and one time' won it.
Reading the book, I felt after years the need to note his phrases, to refer back to them. It is a source of quotes, words that have been used to give soul and beating heart to the text. The last page is also unique, which is the most beautiful ode to love I've read in a while.
From 'One Night and One Time' to 'THE END', this book enchanted me.
