Love poetry is meant to appease lovers. Rumi seeks complete surrender to this end, which he delivers in a grand way. With his poems he pushes to openness, to the center of the essence of existence and to the feeling of light, to an inner energy of universal texture. This energy gives life, but also the possibility of encountering God. If a man does not read his poems with this perspective, it is useless to read them.
This small anthology includes 40 of the most characteristic poems of the great Sufi teacher and founder of the Mevlevi order, the so-called whirling dervishes.
