Giorgos Samartzidis of Evdokimos, was born in Sossandra Almopias N. Pella. Today he is a public pensioner. He wrote his first poem "The Rain" in 1980, while still a student at the Higher Industrial School of Thessaloniki, in the Department of Economics. Since then she has published six poetry collections, Poetic Anxieties 2nd edition, Wax Life 1st edition, Flutters 2nd edition, Road of the Heart 2nd edition, Fairy 2nd edition and Escape 3rd edition. He is a member of the Union of Greek Writers of Northern Greece, based in Thessaloniki. He is a member of the Friends of the Book Association of Pella Prefecture. He was honored with a diploma of honor, by the Union of Greek Writers of Greece, at the Literature Olympiad, which took place in Thessaloniki in 2004. He was also honored with two poetry prizes in the Balkan Poetry Competitions in 1998 and 2000 with the 3rd and 1st prizes respectively. He was recently honored with the 3rd poetry prize from the Vafopouleio Spiritual Center of Thessaloniki on the theme of "Thessaloniki" on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its liberation.
