If you are interested in Autism this book is the most suitable textbook!
The book you are holding in your hands is not intended to educate the reader about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Moreover, there have been distinguished researchers and scientists in the field, some of whom we were lucky and honored to have as teachers.
It contains four chapters.
In the first chapter approaches Autism Spectrum Disorder theoretically and educational practices are suggested.
The second chapter analyzes the application of structured education. The structure concerns both the environment in which the person moves as well as the time and the educational material he uses.
The third chapter shows step by step the construction of the educational material, boxes and folders, which are easily used by the student in the autonomous work area due to the "unity" of their construction.
In the fourth chapter, indicative tasks are presented in boxes - tasks and folders with comments stating the goal of each task.
In essence, it is the systematization and recording of our knowledge and experiences in the implementation of educational practices and the construction of educational materials that we use to support in the school, family and social environment, students with ASD, but also students with SEN . and N.Y.
It is a practical guide that we hope will help teachers, parents and therapists, but above all the everyday life of this special and so sensitive part of the population that is also a special part of our hearts.
"Experience, love and sharing composed this book that comes to complete a big piece of the puzzle called educating children with autism. In the incomplete Greek literature (the one related to the subject) this book is a valuable helper for parents, teachers, therapists and those involved in the education of individuals on the autism spectrum.
Kudos to the authors as a whole for their contribution so far.”
Katerina Bekiaridou,
Occupational therapist
"Since 2000, there has been a lot of talk about the education of people with autism. Seminars were organized, a lot was said, but there was a gap in the implementation of all this. Chrysa and Niki were among the people who had followed and continue to follow developments in the education of people with autism. After a decade of work at the Special Primary School of Serres, the moment has come for them to publicize their way of working. The book is unique, based on modern theoretical approaches and combines theory with practice. I consider it essential for anyone (parent, teacher, special educational staff) involved in the education of children with autism."
Konstantinos Kiosses,
Specialist Director
Serres Primary School
"Chrysa and Niki will not tell you what you might want to hear. They will tell you the truth and help you accept it, the way they know how to work. Chrysa and Niki, a big thank you for what you do for all children with autism and their parents."
