At least this was the perception of the great German composer Richard Wagner, who composed his works with the aim of introducing the artistic public to the timeless and the archetype.

The musical drama of Parsifal, perhaps the greatest opera written since the famous Ring of the Nibelungen, inspired by the medieval writing of Arthur and Wagner's own philosophical quests, depicts the hero's journey to the salvation of his soul, through the mysteries of the Grail, which carries the power of reuniting man's relationship with the divine.

The libretto of the epic opera is translated and prefaced by Fotis Papathanasiou. The edition is accompanied by rare engravings and photographs of the period.

Author Biography

Ο Fotis Papathanasiou was born in Athens. He studied Medicine in Athens and specialized in Sports Medicine in Paris. He was a Special Associate of the former Minister of Culture of France, Jacques Lange. As Deputy Mayor of Athens, among other things he founded Technopolis and the Maria Callas Museum. General Secretary and Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Republic of Greece. Associate Professor of Cultural Management at the International University of Greece.

Music Producer in the 300rd Program, he has produced over 400 shows. He has directed the production of more than XNUMX exhibitions, concerts, conferences and other events.

Since 2009 he has been the General Director of the B & M Theocharakis Visual Arts and Music Foundation. In 2016, he was elected President of the "FILOTIS" Association of Foundations. He has been honored with the decorations: Knight of the Legion of Honor, Brigadier General of Letters and Arts of the French Republic, as well as of Science and Arts of Austria.

Finally, he is the founder and President of the Hellenic Wagner Society, while he was also a member of the Board of Directors of the International Wagner Society from 2008 to 2015. Deeply knowledgeable about the life and work of the great composer, he has written his biography, while he has translated many his musical dramas and essays.
