Making a musical instrument is definitely a technical process. In this book, however, we will approach the subject mainly through Mathematics and Physics. We will design it with the rules of Geometry, calculate its resonances with the rules of Physics and place the frets with mathematical calculations.
We will choose the right wood and build the bundle step by step, following detailed guides.
Anastasios I. Koumartzis has been involved in instrument making as an amateur for more than ten years, while he has been involved in music for the last 40 years of his life.
He was born in Europa, Kilkis, in 1956, to Asia Minor parents. He is a graduate of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.P.Th.) and works as a freelance veterinarian in the wider area of Kilkis.
His first book on instrument making, entitled "To Skafto Baglamadaki", was released in September 2008 by Assos Koupa Publications and has received positive comments from Greek amateurs and professional instrument makers in Greece and abroad.
