Dimitris Kyrou was born, raised and lives in Thessaloniki. He has a degree in Civil Engineering. From a young age he dealt with poetry and later with the short story, vignette, essay and criticism. He has also published two children's plays and a Byzantine Macedonian Drama for the big stage.
He was president of the Union of Writers of Northern Greece (1997 – 2003). He was awarded by many bodies and is an active member of the Society for the Protection of the Environment and Cultural Heritage, Ecology, the Hellenic Ornithological Society and the Amphictyonia of Hellenism.
