A children's book full of adventure!

The writer and musician Anna Maria Kesidou introduces us to it Children's Book entitled "Island of Love"

1) Who are some of your biggest musical influences and how have they influenced your style?

As a child I grew up with my grandfather's chants and my mother's traditional village music. I was lucky in the children's choir of the I.N. Metamorphoses of Sotiros Thessaloniki, that our conductor at the time taught us Western music as well. East and West therefore wrote indelibly in me from an early age. The traditional music of all peoples fascinates me as it comes straight from the souls of people, pure and unpretentious. As a later classical guitar student I loved all the works of JS Bach, Agustin Barrios and Guilermo Portabeles. Music comes out of me like a prayer but also like a celebration many times. I believe it is the most direct and universal language of communication of our feelings and the most natural way to share them.

2) What inspired you to write one Children's Book and what message were you hoping to get across?

Since I was a primary school student, I was lucky enough to have stories that I wrote performed, but also to adapt fairy tales so that we put them on in the form of a theatrical performance. Later, as a teacher of music-kinetic education, I saw how directly children travel to the deepest emotions and communicate freely with joy and enthusiasm. Through our musical theater games that were often based on an actual fairy tale or one that we made up together. The message I want to convey is what the last song in my musical fairy tale says "The colors of the dream". "All together we belong to a wonderful, colorful garden of Love, co-creation and joy."

3) Can you tell us a little bit about your writing process and how you came up with the story for Children's Book your;

It was in August 2004 that I found myself for the 1st time in Naoussa, Paros. My balcony was on a rock in the sea at the mermaid's house and my view was the castle of Chrysalia of my fairy tale. The fact that I was lucky enough to experience the festival with the pirates and the islanders made the experience magical. Basically the story of the book played out in front of my eyes every time I sat and stared at the balcony. It continued to play for years in my mind as I changed it to a more childish one to tell it to my son.

4) Is there any in particular Children's Book who have influenced you as a writer?

Peter Pan is the 1st Children's Book which I enthusiastically read to my child. It was so funny that he was excited even when he was months old. Think about happiness and you will fly is definitely my belief.

5) Do you have plans to write more children's books in the future? If so, can you give us a hint as to what they might be about?

My next book is a sequel to the first and I can't wait to start recording. The next journey of my heroes will have the experiences of the previous one but they will know big surprises and twists.

6) Can you share with us a particularly important or memorable moment from your career as a musician?

The first time my own songs were heard by the wonderful voices of the children I had in the children's choir of my parish. In addition, the music of our students of the Alexandria Conservatory of Thessaloniki. A group of volunteers that I called "Tis Agapi ta Diadia".

7) How do you think storytelling can benefit children and their development?

Storytelling is the most wonderful way for children to travel and dream about creating their own stories.
