Ο Carl Jung - with him Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler– is one of the most popular representatives of Depth Psychology.
His ideas regarding the Collective Unconscious and the Archetypes inherent in it are the most basic elements for understanding the anatomy and functions of the soul. This is also the reason why this research attempts to approach these fundamental and at the same time enigmatic concepts of Analytical Psychology in different ways. Speaking of Archetypes, we refer to primordial patterns of behavior that are completely autonomous and foreign to consciousness.
According to Jung's early accounts, the Archetypes were gradually shaped by the common human experience of thousands of generations, thus structuring the web of the Collective Unconscious which forms the basis of each person's individual psychology, while manifesting in direct ways (as psychic demands ) and indirect (as symbols) in the daily life of the individual.
Throughout the Swiss psychiatrist's clinical investigations, his perception of archetypes was significantly expanded, however, creating a multitude of questions regarding their ontogeny and their connection with man's ultimate existential purpose.
In this book, among other things, the structure of the soul, the relationship between the conscious and the unconscious and the decisive role of the complexes in the mental life of the individual are examined. At the same time, the relationship of the Archetypes with the instincts, the morphology of the Collective Unconscious, but also the course of individuation, i.e. the innate urge for continuous mental transformations aimed at the emergence of the deepest and truest Self, are analyzed.
When was the concept of Archetypes discovered? How they affect human consciousness and in what ways are they manifested? How are they connected to the ultimate purpose of human existence?
