Η Maria Ignatiadou Kaili He was born in Thessaloniki, in Ampelokipi, in 1948, to parents who were refugees from Asia Minor.
She spent her school years in Alexandria, in the prefecture of Imathia. She applied to the Panteion University of Athens, but did not attend.
She studied Decoration at the Dimitrelis School of Thessaloniki (at that time, painting was also her hobby). She passed the Panhellenic exams in 1973 and worked as an administrative employee.
