A car accident at the age of twenty-nine is the beginning of problems for Filippos Makridis, a successful economist with an international career. Years pass, misfortunes fall upon him one after the other and he declines mentally and physically.
Until the final blow comes: his transfer to Thessaloniki, far from the developments.
Arriving there he faces heaps of unsolved problems. Without company and on the edge of despair, he befriends the eccentric owner of a kiosk, an elderly woman, and her mentally disabled son.
But a series of inexplicable events begins to put him under suspicion, creating a scene of mystery and fear around him.
Is this an idea of his tired mind, which has started to become irrational, or is it really that nothing in this city is as it seems? Is it all just an incredible, elaborate trap? But by whom and why? Philip will begin a persistent effort to explore what he believes are hiding in the shadows of the unknown Thessaloniki.
