When God has a Humor

Kostas Kanakas was born in Feres, Evros Prefecture, in 1967. He grew up in Chalastra, Thessaloniki, and moved permanently to Thessaloniki in 1989. He finished the night technical high school on Monastiriou Street.

In the mornings he worked in metal structures and in his father's machine shop. In 1990 he was admitted to the Faculty of Civil Engineering at T.E.I. Heraklion, Crete. The subject of the school, as well as its distance from Thessaloniki, did not excite him, so he soon abandoned his studies.

He attended courses in private schools and training seminars of various organizations in the fields of sales, marketing, business administration and production planning and promotion of consumer products.

Professionally, he was active mainly with commercial and manufacturing companies in Thessaloniki in 1990, in Halkidiki in 1993 and in Athens in 1995.

The written word is a teenage occupation that has never stopped. His experiences and the images he has collected so far are the elements that push him to express his thoughts.

In 2015, he wrote the one-act play entitled “Voices”, which is included in a collective edition translated into French.

He continues to work and write what he perceives, in his own way. He lives with his family and three children between Afitos, Halkidiki, and Bern, Switzerland, with long periods of migration to his favorite city, Thessaloniki.
