Described as the supreme philosopher of the Byzantine Empire, Michael Psellos was one of the most important and enigmatic figures of his time.
His rich writing work, however, remains largely unknown to this day. The present study deals, perhaps for the first time in our country, with the influence that Neoplatonic Philosophy had on the thought of Michael Psellos and more broadly on the Byzantine intellect.
More specifically, the author thoroughly examines the views of Psellos on the existence and activity of demons, the theology for the elevation of the soul to God, the priestly art of Theurgy, the teaching of virtue and many more topics of the teachings of Psellos, thus constituting a one-of-a-kind work on the totality of the ideas of this great visionary of spiritual pursuit.
