The historic movement of the Zealots inspires a storming novel!
Thessaloniki 14th century AD
Athanasios Turanis, after five years of wandering the seas, returns to his homeland for one last time, in order to get rid of the burdens of a painful past once and for all. There is little indication that the lack of any meaning the returning sailor faces will soon be crushed by the momentum of the revolutionary Zealot movement, which aspires to cause a renaissance in the way human societies operate. In a social environment where politics, war, diplomacy, friendship and love coexist and influence each other, the lives of Athanasios, the Zealots and the residents of Thessaloniki will be given meaning through the values of collectivity and solidarity. Together with his fraternal friends, Michael and Andreas Palaiologos, as well as the subtle but decisive presence of his great love, Anastasia, Athanasios and the rest of the Zealots will walk a tightrope so that they can achieve a golden intersection between in retreats and excesses, enemies and allies, punishment and forgiveness. Will their personal and collective struggles be enough for the values of the Zealots to survive and prevail? "Another world is possible. I lived him even in his infancy." A fictional account of the events of a revolution and a period that shook Thessaloniki, through a personal prism where all the stimuli born from people's attempts for fairer societies co-exist.
The cover is based on an actual 15th century design, the creation of an otherwise unknown Italian sailor. The original is in the library of the University of Cologne and also appears on the fold-out page inside the book.
