Konstantinos Sathas was one of the most important historians of the new Hellenism, laying the foundations for the development of Byzantine and Medieval studies in our country. His research brought to light several unseen and at the same time "divergent" aspects of Greek history, such as the existence of a brotherhood of initiated "nationals" in Mystras in the 15th century, led by the philosopher Georgios Gemistos - Plethon, the role played by learned archaeologists stratioti (or Soldiers) in the West in the years after the Fall, as well as the action of a mysterious "Society", which until the eve of the Revolution kept the flame of the ancient mysteries and Hellenism unquenched.
The book you are holding in your hands is a collection of selected excerpts from Satha's works, "Medieval Library" and "Biographies of the Brilliant Greeks in Letters", interspersed with a particularly enlightening πrole of the journalist Stefanos Mytilinaios, which gives new dimensions to the case we are examining.
The main aim of this volume is not in any case the attempt to create yet another conspiracy theory, as those prone to such preoccupations think, but the minimal task of restoring the historical contribution of Greek scholars to the Renaissance and modern Western civilization, up to and including the Enlightenment and to give them the honors they deserve from the so-called "esotericism" companies.
