in eerie horror stories
Υthere is something seductive about the cat, bordering almost on the mysterious. Maybe it's her walk, so quiet. Perhaps her disposition, so friendly yet independent. And of course her gaze, those eyes that reflect light in the dark.
Since ancient times, the cat has had a special place in human society. Sometimes beloved of the gods (Egypt) and sometimes of the Devil (Middle Ages), the cat has always been an object of attention and a source of inspiration for stories about the strange and otherworldly.
Folklore is full of anecdotes about cats being followed by strange phenomena. The Occult wants them as integral familiars of witches. Literature, on the other hand, embraced small cats as authentic representatives of the supernatural. And so, great classics of Horror and the Weird, such as Poe, Lovecraft, Stoker and Carroll devoted some of their best works to the magical effect that cats have on humans.
This book brings together the most important stories of Gothic literature, where the protagonist is, of course, the cat. Tales of horror, magic and fantasy that confirm that in every rupture of reality and logic, somewhere nearby, lurks a... cat.
The collection of short stories is prefaced by the AUTH university professor, Maria Schina.
